I know the {Noble MechWarrior} will flame me to death over this little posting, but I hope the Devs read this and take to heart it's intent. I love this game....at times. I've never "quit" the game because every time I take a break from it I know I'm going to come back to see if they've fixed their mess enough to make this fun again. Right now the game is not fun.

I've been playing for a very long time, invested hundreds of dollars to help them develop this game. Yes, I pay for things because it supports their efforts to develop the game. But right now I see no reason to support anything further if it continues in the direction it's presently going. Why? Well let me list just a few of the more prominent things that I believe, and this is just my personal preferences and observations, need to be addressed before this game becomes anything viable that will sustain my interrest and financial support.
  • We need a pre-mission planning phase. I would suggest starting off with the entire team in a Drop Ship and each player picks their Mech and we can communicate as a team about balance and who's doing what. This is a no brainer for any competative style match making, why is something similar not part of this game?
  • We need win objectives that have some type of meaning. Winning a match by avoiding combat and sitting on a spot of ground and calling it a "base" is just pathetic. Dumbest win condition I think I've seen in any game I've played that trys to call itself a competative game. The other win condition of gathering resouces is a tad better, but still not very imaginative and since we are not actually gathering anything by sitting on a spot of ground, this one too is just silly.
  • Look at the games we all played that led us to fall in love with this title. Draw from them and get creative with your missions and objectives.
  • Enough with the knee-jerk reactions to the crybabies about weapon's being OP and UP. The latest changes to "fix" the mega PPC equiped mechs is just pathetic. It makes ZERO sense why your mech would overheat any more because you have 2 or more of the same weapon on it and firing at the same time. When I read that I almost fell out of my seat laughing at the notion that someone intelligent thought this was a good idea.
  • Stop calling this "Beta".....it's NOT! The minute you started charging for items this became a released title, plain and simple. Any business owner knows that you are legally "in business" the moment you receive payment for services or products, and the same applys here. So, do you guys even have a plan for officially releasing the game or are you going to just keep hiding behind the word Beta forever so you can blame every silly idea you try to balance the game as just something you do during Beta to "test" balancing? Just silly.
There are so many other smaller issues that I feel need to be addressed in time, but the above ones are the major ones I personally feel need addressing. With the lates Heat Scaling rediculousness I will be taking yet another break from the game until you once again "fix" the game. This one change has completely made the game not fun, and no I don't run a 6 PPC mech, never have and never will. I'm completely bored with the unimaginative win conditions and extremely tired of getting mismatched teams because there is no way to plan a drop (which should be one of the most basic features of this game).


So, flame away {Noble MechWarrior} and give me something to chuckle at.......

Well... I suppose it's still a beta then.

Beside that, if five more people post a rant about what they think the game lack and what they want, I'm sure PGI will stop drinking coffee, rethink the whole plan and make it happen before next patch. (aka. I'm quite sure PGI knows what people wants, what they lack and all, but no matter how much people yell, it still wont change anyway). Things still take time to make, and right now I rather they finish what they have started instead of starting completly next projects... Let them work, and when they have released the "main" stuff, such as CW, 12vs12 and what else they are working on, people can start yelling again. Yelling wont do anything now, as they have plenty of Work on their hands already.
I think all can agree everything have taken too long time, but crying wont help. People want them to start on a thousand of different things, and expect it all to be released yesterday. Relax, and enjoy... MWO is a game, not a matter of life and death.

I estimate the Pre mission planning will come with CW. Right now we are testing the hard parts of the game. You know game balance and junk.

Win Objectives, Has been suggested before so you are on the right track.

The fix to PPCs was a tragic joke. I don't boat at all, and I even see the stupid for what it is. To limit PPCs give them their own Hard Points. After all there will eventually be 3 more PPCs (light, Heavy & Snub nose). SO avoid the Christmas rush and separate them now. A Better fix in my warped mind.

As to flaming you... I don't use Flamers... never saw the point.

You may not agree with my opinion that this is no longer a Beta, I honestly think they are using the term Open Beta as a copout to be able to do pathetic changes and virtually shoot from the hip with the over nerfing and buffing of everything the PUG players QQ about. I've been a part of more Beta testing of MMO's than I can count, too old to even remember that far back, but I do not know a single one that charged real money for ANYTHING until it was released. They can call it what they want, but the fact remains that they are charging people money and that means it's no longer in Open Beta. I tell everyone that I drive a Porsche even though it looks like a mini van, so I guess it is a Porsche since I say it is. And name a single game that has been in Open Beta for this long, how about half this long, or even a quarter of this time??? None.

I only bring this point up because there is a need for change in attitude towards their product. If you have a design team that is viewing their product as "in development" then their motivation is much different than if they are putting their name and pride on a finished product that they have to stand behind. I want them to stand behind every change they make with pride and confidence that it's making their game better. Right now their attitude is "let's try this and if it doesn't work out then we will just say, "hey guys it's only Beta". That is not the right attitude when you are charging customers!

The changes they are currently making are the same you see in Everquest, one of the longest running MMO's out there. The changes are minor tweaking with in-game balance that will go on for the entirety of the title. So, where is the Beta aspect here? There is none, it's a copout.

Considering you had to BUY INTO BETA testing before "digital distribution of media" (and by that I mean being able to click a button on a web page and get things for free) was ever a thing, I'm fairly certain that "paying for a game in BETA" was considered common practice. Oh, and it didn't come with free updates, you had to buy the game again once it was finished.

If anything, your post is a copout.

Whenever a game is in beta or not have nothing to do with it costing money nor the amount of time it have been in beta. What matters is whenever the game have been offically launched or not. And charging money for beta is quite common. Take a look at Steam once in a while, and you will notice games with Pre-purchase for beta and early access.
But with that said, PGI charges you no Money for playing this game. You can play this game for free if you wish. Sure you can unlock more content with money, but you get to play the game for free. They are not charging you anything if you dont want to.
Saying you are driving a Porsche when you are not, is, in fact, a little like saying the game isn't in beta anymore, when it actually is.

And, if you only bring this up because you want a change in the attitude towards their product, and you want them to have pride and all in it, then... why didn't you say so? You mention several things wrong with their product in your first post, but nothing about pride and confidence in their product.

I agree fully with you that this game lacks, and I have also been dissapointed with patches, but to be honest, a thousand other people have already said what you did. I doubt they will read it, and I understand why, because it's just like everyone else said... If I were PGI, I would listen to the fair feedback, not people who post a random post with heaven, hell, solutions and how they are disappointed with the game.
And with that said, I will sign the document for I do believe that is a good idea, and there is a million more chance they will listen to that, than another random rant post.
